Couldn’t be happier to have Phil as our “guy” during our car search journey.
To mark a special birthday, my husband decided to surprise me with a very special gift. He had been working with Phil “The Sports Car Guy” to find just the right car. Finally, he found what we were looking for…but it was about 900 miles away.
We couldn’t make such an important purchase without seeing (touching and driving) the car first. Phil joined us as we ventured to another city to see the car first-hand. In fact, he helped with every step of the process; from negotiations, to scheduling a visit, an inspection and to the car delivery right to our driveway – with many steps in between!
I enjoyed getting to know Phil during our travels. It is obvious cars are his passion. His knowledge and friendly disposition are the perfect match for helping others get their one and only dream car – or add to their collection.
Phil definitely helped us avoid some pitfalls and make the right choice for our desires and budget.
And, now, we can proudly say, “I’ve got a guy.”

The Search - Birthday Present for Wife

I approached Phil about 6 months ago, after the purchase of a vehicle (a birthday gift for my wife) fell through. I was very specific on what I was looking for (Make, Model, Year, Color, Options).
Phil saved the day. He was awesome scouting possible cars, evaluating condition, originality, value etc. Once we found the right car, he accompanied us to Michigan for an inspection, arranged a subsequent inspection, organized transport, paperwork and everything else.
Thanks for putting up with me for so long. Really appreciate all you did, helping me find the right car, fitting my narrow specs.
My wife loves it and I get to be the hero :)
Phil O’Brien turned his love of classic vintage sports cars into a business focused on assisting others in realizing their dream of owning and driving a classic sports car of their own. Phil has been helping friends and family for years to determine which type of sports car would suit their needs. In March of 2018 with the support and encouragement of his wife, he decided to launch a small business and Sports Car Guy, LLC was created.
Phil’s interest in driving started at the early age of 13 when he bought his first car - a 62 Chevy Nova for $29.00. Obviously with no license, Phil was limited to driving his gem on private dirt roads with mom in the passenger’s seat! When he finally earned his driving license, he was eager to start his search for the perfect sports car. He found a 1973 Triumph TR6 and was hooked. Phil always enjoyed driving sports cars, but it wasn’t until five years ago that the old nostalgia of that TR6 began to itch! At that time he bought the first car in his collection, a 74 Triumph TR6 (Mimosa Yellow). He quickly realized that as a weekend fun car that vintage cars were far more fun and certainly a lot less cost wise to insure than the new cars!
Today Phil enjoys driving and collecting vintage cars especially British, Italian and German models, but it is more fun to help others find the perfect sports car. His goal for starting the business is fairly simple to help people find and drive their passion!
